Occasion
Munja, Yagnopavit or Upnayan or Janeu Sanskar is performed when a boy enters Brahmacharya; a phase in life of an individual when he starts studying Vedas. Munja ceremony is performed among the Brahmins, Kshatriyas & Vaishya communities. Munja Ceremony is performed when the boy between age of 8-12 years, an auspicious day is selected as per the Birth Chart / Janma Nakshatra of the boy.

Change in Coins – 50 Rs., a small piece of deer’s Skin, Scissor, a stand for incense sticks, Chaul/Barber & 1 coconut, cloth offering /clothing, maternal uncle Clothes/Dakshina, an offering for the family deity, offering for family ancestors, according to the demands of the family tradition. Half a kilogram of Sweets/Pedha, a bowl of milk, a little yogurt in a small container, a spoonful of ghee, preparation of maternal meal – along with other items, an additional offering for someone who will be present at the meal, for their meal preparation and offering, south-facing offering, a steel plate – 5, spoons – 5, glasses – 15, small pans – 3, 1 Samai & 2 niranjan. 2 Paat, 6 mats or cloth for sitting, 3 copper plates, 4 brass Tamhan-Small Copper Plates, 2 Pali Vessels
